Do you ever feel so weighed down by something, that you simply can't move on with life? It is as though that one situation, mistake, piece of knowledge, or worry haunts and immobilizes you. I'm sure something has come to your mind, seeing as experiences have risen within my own.
Do you ever wonder how you can achieve peace? How you can be calm no matter what storm is raging? How you can find serenity even in the most tumultuous circumstances? I think the answer, quite often, is mercy. Specifically, mercy from a loving Savior.
Do you ever wonder how you can achieve peace? How you can be calm no matter what storm is raging? How you can find serenity even in the most tumultuous circumstances? I think the answer, quite often, is mercy. Specifically, mercy from a loving Savior.
Recently, as I was reading The Book of Mormon, I came across a verse which reads: Behold, I would exhort you that when yet shall read these things...that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things and ponder it in your hearts. (Moroni 10:3) Another one reads: Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. The truth in these two verses is that Christ is always willing to lift us up and make us better. Although the second verse is referencing more specifically our eventual and eternal salvation, I believe it also is inviting us to come closer to Christ throughout this life and receive more joy and rest through him than possible if we simply try to take on the world by ourselves.
Although this world is full of hard times, and although we are far from perfect and full of flaws and mistakes, the inner peace I believe we all desire can come through an unshakable faith in a God who lovingly extends his mercy to each one of us. As we come unto Christ and partake of His grace and mercy, we will have access to that divine inner peace that, even in a world full of distractions and hardships, quietly whispers
"It will be alright."
"Keep trying."
"Things will work out."
"You do not have to face this alone."
